Designer Maurice Doorduyn is the founder of IKONIC. He graduated from the Royal Academy of Art The Hague (KABK) in 2005. Before starting the IKONIC brand in 2015, he worked as a designer at design agencies and at a furniture manufacturer.
Early on, as a child he most wanted to be a car designer. According to the designer, the car represents the ultimate sense of freedom and play, both in their design and use . Children see heroes and villains in their toy cars, build and demolish with their cranes and dump trucks, recreate the world they know in miniature. Adults see their car as a sculpture, as a design object and as a tool with which to explore the world. No less often, the driver sees his car as an extension of his identity. This connection is strong, and perhaps the strongest connection between man and object.
As a designer, and as the owner of IKONIC, Maurice Doorduyn tries to put this emotion into all the objects in the collection.
